When the city authorities finally decided to patch a huge
gaping hole in front of this residential building in Rostov, Russia no one ever
expected this guy would have to tear the pavement so soon. No, it was not some
mindless act of vandalism – it was a lifesaving mission.
For days residents were hearing muffled cries from beneath
the building and what they found underneath gave me chills. The construction
workers closed the hole without even checking if there was someone inside and
unknowingly buried this stray dog alive. Thanks to these people, Belka was
saved from the worst death I can think of.
